I'm Featured In Philadelphia Magazine!
A few months ago, the lovely Lauren McCutcheon (Philadelphia Magazine's Lifestyle Editor) invited me to their offices to play around with some local makeup lines and share my thoughts. When I arrived, splayed out on a table was a veritable buffet of beauty products, from fabulous brands in my own backyard: Carie Brescia, Tenshi Beauty Bar, sh. cosmetics, and Tu by Claudia.
Many thanks to Philadelphia Magazine for including me!
PS - Did you know that I'm also a regular contributor to Philadelphia Magazine's online column, The Goods? Check out my latest beauty roundup, Five New Beauty Breakthroughs.
Winter Beauty Must Haves
Spoiled Pretty Featured in Woman's World Magazine!
Seriously, though...I am beyond flattered that the magazine asked me to participate in their You Deserve The Best column, which features product picks from "in-the-know experts."
Women's World asked me to name the best candles, and they included a quote about one of my faves from Yankee Candle. Click the image above to read why I love it so.
Here are some other luminaries that love:
Shampure Soy Wax Candle by Aveda: It might be a stretch to call Aveda’s Shampure Candle the best-smelling candle of all time, considering that I've only been on this earth to judge for 32 years. But I'm going to give it that title anyway because I dare someone to find me one more wonderfully fragrant. Its calming aroma of 25 pure flower and plant essences, which reminds me of a trip to the spa, helps me to unwind at the end of the day. This candle smells so good, I want to petition Aveda to create a body wash, lotion, perfume and deodorant in the same scent (they already have a Shampure shampoo and conditioner). It’s that good!
Godiva Home Fragrance Collection: Last year, Godiva unveiled a new way for chocoholics, like me, to get their fix. The Godiva Home Fragrance Collection included five scented candles (Milk Chocolate Truffle, Raspberry Ganache, White Chocolate Magnolia, Peppermint Bark, Black Almond Truffle) of deep chocolate-colored wax infused with cocoa butter. Unfortunately, these mouth-watering candles were limited-edition and they don't really sell them anymore...not really sure why, considering they are AMAZING! Anyway, I recently did some Internet sleuthing and located some at bathandbodyworks.com (they just sold out there, but you can also purchase at Amazon.com). They make the perfect holiday gift, so I snatched up a few - and I'm giving them to the wonderful teachers at Westley's daycare to thank them for taking such great care of my baby.
Bougie Candle: I recently discovered Bougie Candle, a wonderful collection of seven candles made with all natural soy wax that is free of any genetically modified materials, dyes, herbicides or pesticides. And because they are scented with essential oils, the candles provide aromatherapeutic benefits. My favorite is Nurture, a blend of vanilla and ylang ylang that has calming properties.
Do you have a favorite candle? I'm always on the hunt to try new things, so share your faves in the comments section below.

Spoiled Pretty Feature on mystyle.com
A few days ago, I was interviewed for mystyle.com, The Style Network's website. And yesterday, they posted the feature to their blog!
This type of feature story is typically reserved for celebrities, but mystyle recently decided to also profile fashion and beauty bloggers...and they started with ME!
The article is really engaging and complimentary...you should definitely check it out. Even if you visit me every day, you're guaranteed to learn something new. I even give some shout outs to products that haven't yet been reviewed on Spoiled Pretty - which makes this article a must read!

Spoiled Pretty Featured in Russian Vogue!
Author: Daneen from Philadelphia
Specialty: Cosmetics
Updated: Every day
Why should you read it: Daneen tries out all the new products and writes how she likes them, how long makeup lasts and if you should spend money on a product. She gives recommendations: for example, a body moisturizer with pink champagne and shea butter from Jaqua or a collection of "wedding makeup" by Bobbi Brown. She tells her readers about an interesting skin care line Cate's Essentials created by SK-II for Cate Blanchett. And, by the way, Daneen also writes about men's makeup.
Many thanks to Galina for the scan, and for her translation services!
Watch Me On The NBC 10! Show

Today, I appeared on the NBC 10! Show. You all know that I could fill the entire hour gabbing about beauty products...but, alas, I only had five minutes. At the top of the show, I shared some of my favorite money-saving tips, which include:
* Whenever you buy online, do a Google search for promotional/coupon codes and free shipping deals. You'd be surprised by how a few minutes of investigative work can save you a pretty penny.
* Sign up for a free rewards card at your favorite beauty retailers. With Sephora's Beauty Insider Program, you accrue a point for every dollar you spend. When your 'beauty bank' hits 100 points, you can choose a deluxe sample. Plus, Sephora treats you to a deluxe beauty treat on your birthday. Stila Cosmetics just unveiled a similar program.
* Register your email with your favorite beauty brand or online retailers - to have news, coupons, and exclusive deals delivered to you inbox.
* My hairdresser is a longtime friend of the family, so we have a special arrangement. I bring in my own products and he gives me a discount. If you have a good relationship with your hairdresser, see if he/she would be amenable to a similar deal.
* Beauty schools offer salon services at discounted rates, so consider taking advantage of their menu of services.
A little later in the program, I returned with more tips and some fabulous budget beauty product recommendations!
