Kim Kardashian Getting A Wax Figure

Today, Kim Kardashian finally revealed the mystery behind this photo she posted on her blog a few weeks ago...

"I've been keeping you guys in the dark about my big announcement and teasing you with my #karwax tweets… but I can finally reveal that I am getting my own wax figure at Madame Tussauds in NYC!!!!

This is one of the greatest honors ever and I am so thrilled and excited. Now I will never have to leave NYC… I’ve officially gone bi-coastal! LOL"

Okay...you know I love Kim and all, but does she really need a wax figure? I guess the better question is why people create wax figures in the first place. I mean, what is the point? Will you go see Kim's wax twin next time you're in NYC?

Blush Blast From The Past: Benefit CORALista

You know what’s almost as fun as a new beauty product? It’s when you re-discover an oldie but goodie that you forgot that you had.

For the past several weeks, NARS Blush in Torrid has been step 2 of my three step/minute makeup routine (step/minute 1 being Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara and step/minute 3 being either Lancome Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin in Rose Pretty, Avon Glazewear Lip Gloss in Rave or Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Nude Almond topped with Make Up Forever Fascinating Lip Gloss in #10). But this morning, I decided to switch it up and go fishing in my bottomless basket o' blushes. What I came up with was Benefit CORALista Blush – and after sweeping it on my cheeks and admiring myself in the mirror, I can't believe I ever let CORALista slip my mind.

It imparts the most gorgeous, coral-pink glow that looks ab fab on a multitude of complexions. What I love most about CORALista is how effortless it looks; it applies like a dream and the blush actually looks like it's coming from within. Another reason to put CORALista on your shopping list? Coral happens to be the it blush shade right now (ladies, if don't know…you betta ask somebody ).

Oh, and did I mention that the blush – besides looking fantastic – smells fantastic too? It has this light floral scent that, while completely unnecessary, is totally genius. CORALista comes with an applicator brush, but for best results, I like to apply with my ecoTools blush brush.

Kristen Stewart Debuts Red Hot Hair at Letterman and NYC Eclipse Premiere

Fekkai Celebrity Stylist Adir Abergel transformed Kristen Stewart's tresses from day to night (for her David Letterman appearance and the New York premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), and collaborated with Marie Robinson to color her hair strawberry blonde.

DAY: Abergel created a feminine and flirty style for Kristen's David Letterman appearance.
GET THE LOOK: Abergel started by applying the Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip at the roots and working throughout the hair. Using a round brush, he blow-dried the hair straight, and spritzed the Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist for added shine. Adir curled the hair using a 1-inch curling iron, and sprayed with Fekkai Coiff Ocèanique Tousled Wave Spray to create the flirty texture. He then pulled the hair back loosely and secured it by knotting at the nape of the neck. To finish of the look, Adir sprayed Fekkai Advanced Sheer Hold Hairspray.

COLOR: Adir teamed up with Clairol Celebrity Stylist, Marie Robinson, to dye Kristen's hair strawberry blonde. Abergel encouraged Stewart to return to her natural roots, and pulled images from the 1950's for inspiration.
GET THE LOOK: To achieve Stewart's strawberry blonde color, Abergel suggests using the Fekkai Salon Color 6R Copper-Lucy.

NIGHT: Abergel created a soft and romantic braid for Kristen Stewart’s Premiere in New York for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
GET THE LOOK: Abergel started by applying the Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip at the roots and dried her hair with his hands. Next, Adir applied a dime of Fekkai Coiff Nonchalant Piecing & Forming Wax for added texture. Creating a side part, he braided the hair across the side line towards the opposite side of the head. With his fingers, he carefully pulled pieces of hair to soften and shape the face. To secure the look, he tied the hair into a loose knot. Adir sprayed Fekkai Advanced Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night hold.

Fekkai products are available At fekkai.com, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue.

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Too Light Undereye Concealer?

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hey Mario...

You have a gift that would make any woman feel a little more confident after you've worked your 'magic'.

My question is how come the concealer under my eyes looks fine in the mirror when I put it on, but in photos it looks ghastly white?!? I can't figure it out.

I use Laura Mercier camo concealer and then pat Makeup Professional translucent powder over to set it. What gives???

Thanks,
Michelina

Michelina,

A lot of people make the same mistake with going too light under the eyes. It's no secret that I like to highlight and lighten that area of the face but there's a pretty fine line between bright and white. Try using a concealer and/or powder that is a shade darker. Also, check to see that your loose powder doesn't have light-reflecting or shimmery pigment in it. To the human eye, it's difficult to see - but the bright flash of a camera will catch it and magnify it. Another thing to try is to not use too much product where it's opaque. Instead, apply with a lighter hand. It's always good to take pics of yourself with a digital camera to test it out and see how you will look. Hope this helps.

Get The Look: Nikki Reed at Eclipse Premiere

Makeup artist Fiona Stiles created Nikki Reed's red carpet look for last night's Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. On her blog, Fiona writes:

"Nikki's Marchesa dress was so beautiful and feminine we went for a soft etherial look, with just a touch of girlish color on the lips. I prepped her skin with moisturizer and then a thin layer of Orlane's Eclat Absolut for a soft glow. I used a light application of foundation and a dusting of loose powder before adding a little rosy color to the cheeks, just a touch to keep it sweet. I wanted to have a light, easy eye, so I used a very light pink shadow, up just past the crease in the eye, with a little of a lavender grey over it for depth, then popped a little of the light pink into the corners of the eyes to add a little light to the face. Instead of liner I used a creamy taupe color from Ellis Faas (one of my new favorite products) near the lashes for a softer definition, then a little mascara on the top and bottom to finish it off the eyes. A matte pink lipstick gave the look an easy sweetness."

Skin Prep:
Yonka Pampelmousse moisturizer
Orlane éclat Absolu (for luminosity)

Foundation:
Armani Luminous Silk #7

Powder:
Chantecaille Loos Powder in "Ray"

Blush:
Jouer Mineral Blush in "Rose"

Eyes:
Cle de Peau Satin Eye Eolor #114
Jouer "Parfait" eyeshadow
Ellis Faas "Creamy Eyes #E107"
Lancome Virtouse Mascara in Black
Anastasia Brow Pencil in "Brunette"

Lips:
Lipstick Queen "Pink Sinner" lipstick

Get The Look: Ashley Greene at Eclipse Premiere

mark Brand Ambassador Ashley Greene and star of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse made her mark last night at the movies LA premiere at the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival. Celebrity Makeup Artist Vanessa Scali shared her top makeup tricks for creating Ashley’s stunning look.

Inspiration
"We wanted to create a soft, glowing goddess look to complement her beautiful Alexis Mabille Couture dress. The overall look was golden skin, soft blushed cheeks, champagne shimmer and a softly lined eye."

Face
"I prepped Ashley's skin by applying mark Primed for Perfection Face Primer all over Ashley's face to create a nice, even canvas. I like the skin to look flawless but real, so I always use foundation and concealers sparingly. With Ashley, I used mark Speedway Do Everything Makeup in Natural. I applied it with the mark Foundation Brush and then blended it with my fingers. Using my fingers to blend heats the product just a bit and leaves a seamless finish. Next, I applied mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Light/Medium under her eyes."

Cheeks
"I wanted to create a nice luminous glow, so I started by applying just a touch of mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Natural to the top of her cheekbones, down the center of her nose and the bow of her top lip. Next, I applied mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Pro Glo to her temples, under her cheekbones and under her jaw line to lightly enhance the bronze in her natural skin tone. Lastly, I used mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Peachy on the apples of her cheeks for the perfect healthy flush."

Eyes
"For Ashley’s eyes I started by using mark I-mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Nomadic to create a champagne shimmer all over her eyelids and under the bottom lashes. Next, to define and elongate the lash line, I lined her upper eyelids with mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner and Shadow in Entourage (Black Shade). For a touch of added depth, I used mark Get in Line Hook Up Waterproof Eyeliner in Painted Black at the very base of her lashes. I finished with a few generous coats of mark Lash Splash Hook Up Waterproof Mascara in Black."

Lips
"For Ashley’s lips, I started by using a dab of mark Kiss Dry Goodbye Lip Smoother to give her lips a touch of moisture. I then used mark Kissink Liptint Marker in Berry to define the outer edge of her lips and smudged the color into the center."

Get The Look: Bryce Dallas Howard at Eclipse Premiere

CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee worked with Bryce Dallas Howard at the Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on Thursday, June 24th. Follow Kate's tips below to steal Bryce's modern classic Hollywood look.

"Bryce's skin is milky perfection and her hair a deep auburn, so I wanted to avoid doing the expected, and decided to go for a bold lip. Her skin was prepped with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Serum, and then I applied a mineral foundation. Her cheeks were CHANEL Powder Blush in Imprévu, which is a great mix of rose and bronze. I lined the eyes with the new CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair, and then went over the top with a pale pearlescent peach shadow from the new CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Enigma to reflect the light. I then applied two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir. On her lips I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Cambon which I matted down into a stain. I used the clear CHANEL Brow Shaper to set her brows in place, and then off she went to the craziest premiere of the year! The fans had been camping out for a few nights already!"

For her winning red carpet coiff, star stylist David Babaii created a relaxed, Bridget Bardot inspired look. Luminous waves highlighted her luxurious titian-colored hair as it was pulled back on each side, accented with a subtle beehive with shiny, healthy beautiful hair cascading sensually down her back. Babaii released several strands to strategically fall forward and frame Bryce's face for a modern 60's effect.

David Babaii Explains How To Get The Look:

"I prepared Bryce's hair by applying a small amount of argan oil-infused original Moroccanoil Treatment on damp hair before blow-drying to condition, strengthen and protect strands from the heat of the curling iron as well as to eliminate any sign of frizz or static. It absorbs instantly and speeds my blow-drying time so I can concentrate on styling. I love using Moroccanoil Treatment with flat or curling irons when I work because the hair becomes even better conditioned and healthier.

"Once the hair was dry, I applied Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to the palm of my hands then randomly finger-combed sections of the hair for natural looking hold. After making a center part, I used a curling iron to form loose, flowing waves that were easy to work and to tuck behind the ears. I then gently teased the hair at the crown to create a suggestion of a Bardot bee-hive, pinned the sides, and left a soft cascade of gorgeous hair flowing down her back. Next, I lightly misted Bryce's hair using Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for an extra boost of natural-looking shine to reflect her beautiful color, especially in the bright lights on the red carpet. It was important to me to give the hair a luminous, ethereal look, and perfect condition and lustre was essential.

"To hold the hair in place without compromising on shine or movement, I finished the style with new Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray, which is blended with Moroccanoil's exclusive argan oil-infused formula. It sprays on in a soft, diffused mist and I love how touchable the hair feels, as well as so moveable with long-lasting hold that lasts all night long."

Get The Look: Kristen Stewart at Eclipse Premiere

Avon Global Creative Color Director and Hollywood Makeup Artist Jillian Dempsey prepped Kristen Stewart for the Eclipse premier. "We made her eyes pop with shimmery, icy tones and added definition with black liquid liner," she said.

Opting for a more classic look, Dempsey wanted to keep Kristen's look fresh, while playing up the eyes. For the premiere, Dempsey used:

Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Duo Eye Enhancer in White/Jet Black Price ($9.00): One end of the Eye Enhancer contains a creamy, smooth eyeshadow, and the other has a perfectly coordinated luxurious liquid eyeliner.

Avon SuperExtend Mascara in Black ($8.50): The innovative stretch-formula contains triangular-shaped fibers that visibly lengthens lashes up to 55%.

Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Multi Pencil in Raspberry Radiance ($8.00): A double-ended pencil includes a soft, smudge-proof eyeshadow on one end and a complementary cream lip and cheek color on the other.

Frederic Fekkai's Adir Abergel tended to Kristen Stewart's tresses for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse premiere.

INSPIRATION: A soft take on the 1950's pompadour

HOW TO GET THE LOOK: Abergel started by applying the Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip at the roots throughout the hair. Using a round brush, Abergel blow-dried the hair away from the face, and placed it in pin curls. He allowed the hair to cool before removing the pin curls. He then styled the hair by hand raking the hair into a side pompadour securing with with pins. To shape the face, Abergel pulled a few pieces in front. To secure the look, he then applied Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night hold.

Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip ($23) and Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray ($35) are available at Fekkai.com, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Summer Smokey Eye and Meltproof Makeup

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hi Mario!

I want you to know I'm a HUGE fan and your work is PHENOMENAL!! Always flawless!! Well, it's that time of the year again - it's so hot and humid. Is a smokey eye or eyeliner too much for the heat? I don't even know what to do with my face because I feel like it all melts off or smudges, or I may look overdone. Can you share some tips/do's and dont's for summer makeup, and an appropriate summer smokey eye?

Thank you so much!

xoxo,
Lauren

Lauren,

Smokey, sultry eyes are great for summer! If you're having issues with your makeup melting or smudging in the summer heat, try using less products that contain oils - such as eyeliner. Smoke up your eyes using shadows. I love a shimmery copper or bronze on the top lids and smudged along the bottom lashes. A couple coats of mascara will finish the eye. Remember that for a smudge-free, long lasting eye makeup, prime your lids with concealer or foundation first, then set with a bit of loose powder. This trick also allows for flawless blending. Don't cover your whole face with makeup in the summer months. Instead, try to even out your skin tone with a sheer tinted moisturizer and if needed, follow with a concealer on blemishes. Lip stains are great in hot weather too! Apply once to lips and you literally don't have to worry about retouching all day.

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!

Mario

Closest Shave Ever

Pregnancy hormones have sent my hair follicles into overdrive. It's gotten to the point where I've got a 5 o'clock shadow on my legs at, like, 2pm. And thanks to the ungodly heat and humidity in Philly right now, hiding my grizzly gams under long pants isn't exactly appealing...especially considering that I'm having one long hot flash right now.

So I recently got reacquainted with my favorite scrub - KP Duty by DERMAdoctor - and it gave me the closest shave ever. Yeah, using it adds an extra few minutes to your shower routine. But it exfoliates so well that it allows your razor to cut super close so that you can go longer between shaves - which is great for me because:

a) no one actually enjoys shaving and

b) in my current condition, the act of shaving my legs is like pregnant Cirque du Soleil.

Oh, and you won't be able to stop petting your legs because they'll be ridiculously smooth. I know I've said it before, but it bears repeating. KP Duty Body Scrub runs circles around that scrub you've got sitting on the edge of your tub.

Salon Rouge: Blown Away By My Blowout

When it comes to beauty, few things make me happier than a professional blowout. I always feel my prettiest after someone tugs on my tresses with a round brush and blasts them with hot air. Why? Well, because I can get away with wearing my glasses, no makeup, jeans and a t-shirt – and still look totally fabulous. That's the beauty of a blowout.

So when Salon Rouge invited me to get my hair did over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, you know I immediately RSVP'd with a resounding "YES!!!!"

While Salon Rouge isn't exactly in my neighborhood (it's located in Cherry Hill, NJ), I had such a wonderful experience that I would gladly cross state lines and pay the $3 bridge toll again for such sleek and chic hair.

First, hairstylist Heather shampooed me using Bumble and bumble Tonic Shampoo, which has Tea Tree Oil and Peppermint extracts to soothe my itchy/dry scalp, balance oil, stimulate circulation. I loved the tingle! Then she shampooed again with Bumble and bumble Alojoba Shampoo - a lightweight, moisture-rich smoothie that combines Aloe Vera Gel, Jojoba Seed Oil, Cucumber and Chamomile for soft, shiny hair. She followed up the shampoo with the Alojoba Conditioner, which also smoothes and softens.

Once the conditioner was rinsed out, Heather sprayed Bumble and bumble Tonic Lotion at the roots and all over to detangle and prepare my hair for styling; this leave-in conditioner is a must-have for those with dry, coarse, porous or colored hair. While my hair was still damp, Heather squeezed a couple drops of Bumble and bumble Defrizz into her hands and distributed throughout my hands. She explained that Defrizz is the perfect prep product before a blowout because it protects against frizz, acts as a barrier to humidity and leaves hair silky and flyaway-free – but she warns not to get overzealous because a little goes a long way.

Then Heather gave me a blowout that blew me away. It took almost no time at all, and she has a very gentle technique. My bangs were almost past my nose, so I asked her to shorten and thicken them up - and she trimmed them to perfection. Seriously, I can't remember the last time I was so happy with my bangs. Finally, she sprayed my hair with Bb.Shine before flat ironing to protect and add a polished finish.

If you're in the Greater Philadelphia/South Jersey area, I highly recommend you pay Salon Rouge a visit…and tell Heather that Spoiled Pretty says "hi."

The Weather Channel: Beauty Forecast

Do you read Us Weekly? You know I do, seeing how celebrity obsessed I am. Anyway, they have this feature where, every week, a new celeb confesses 25 things you don't know about them. It's very interesting. I mean, I would never have guessed that Ludacris owns an RV and drives it himself. Or that Kristin Davis gets her best sleep on airplanes and loves Chick-fil-A. Hilary Duff says that she loves putting makeup on other people and if she weren't an actress, she'd be a makeup artist.

Anyway, if I were to participate in one of these exercises, here's one of the factoids you'd see on my list: I'm addicted to The Weather Channel. Every morning when I wake up, I turn to Channel 101 (Weatherscan Local from The Weather Channel). It gives me my local weather, along with a weekly forecast and some other helpful information…so I don't have to sit through all of the national weather news anymore, waiting to hear what's happening in my hood.

Now, I'm no weatherwoman wannabe. Watching the forecast helps me decide what outfit to wear, if I'll need an umbrella and what hairstyle I should sport that particular day (rain, wind and humidity always dictate a ponytail). Plus I secretly dig the smooth jazz music they play on a loop. I've memorized all of the songs, and Mr. Spoiled Pretty often catches me rocking out and humming along to The Weather Channel tunes while I'm getting ready in the AM.

And just when I thought TWC couldn’t make weather any cooler, they add an awesome new feature to weather.com. Type your zip code into the Beauty Forecast to set your location and it provides Frizz Alerts, Skin Alerts, and a checklist of the items you'll need to look and feel your best. You can also sign up to get the Beauty Forecast sent to your cell phone. The only thing that could make this better is if the text message was accompanied by my favorite smooth grooves.

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Mascara Application

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hey Mario,

My beauty question is about mascara. What is the best way to apply it? I've heard so many different tips. Some people have told me to apply mascara to the tops of lashes, while others have said to apply to the underside. I've heard about wiggling the wand at the base of lashes and rotating the wand as you apply. Some people hold the wand vertically and others hold it horizontally. And are you supposed to let mascara dry in between coats? Mario, you are a makeup genius so I really trust your opinion. Please set the record straight so I can make the most of my mascara.

Thanks!

Heidi

Thank you, Heidi!

The first thing you should do is curl your lashes and wipe the mascara wand with a tissue before applying mascara to the eye lashes. This gets any clumps off of the brush and makes for a more even application. I recommend applying the wand starting at the base of the lashes and going up. You can "wiggle it just alittle bit." Too much of that will tangle the hairs. You want to have the majority of the mascara towards the base because the lashes will fall or droop if a lot of product weighs them down on the tips. Don't wait until they dry to apply your second coat - perfect and seperate them before they dry.

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!

Mario
