Mariah Carey is almost unrecognizable in the new independent film, Precious.
To prepare for the role of social worker, Mrs. Weiss, the chanteuse packed on the pounds; she appears on screen sans makeup and sporting a dark brown do, which only serves to make her pallor look more pronounced.
The part is a far cry from her Razzie Award winning portrayal of Billie Frank in 2001's Glitter.
The movie, adapted from "Push: A Novel," premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January where it won the Audience Award and Grand Jury prize for best drama.
